The pelletizer will
dewater the slurry pumped from the concentrator and produce a
filter cake that will then be formed or agglomerated into balls
about 3/8” in diameter. The balls will be fed to a furnace that
will first dry and then fire or indurate them at 2,400°F with
natural gas to harden them and produce taconite oxide pellets.
The pelletizer will produce up to 4.1 million tonnes of oxide
pellets for DRI
production.
